The Phaserunner V6 is Grin’s compact field-oriented controller, built around control electronics from Accelerated Systems Inc. It is meant as an upgrade path when a stock square-wave or basic sine-wave controller limits smoothness, efficiency or power.
Every parameter (phase and battery current, regen, voltage cutoffs) is set with Grin’s free PC software over a USB-TTL cable, so one part number can be matched to many motors. The V6 adds a torque-sensor input, a motor temperature input and a 9-pin harness for third-party displays using the KM5s protocol.
Continuous current depends heavily on airflow: Grin quotes roughly 45–55A without extra heatsinking and up to about 70A with a finned heatsink.

Highlights
- Programmable: All key limits are set in Grin’s Phaserunner Suite software.
- Sensorless capable: Keeps running even without hall signals, including at high eRPM.
- Third-party displays: 9-pin Main harness supports displays using the KM5s protocol.
FAQ
Units sold with a motor are set up for that motor; on its own it must be tuned with a PC and the USB-TTL cable.
How much continuous current can it handle?
Grin quotes roughly 45–55A phase current without extra heatsinking; this varies with airflow.
